Believe in more than just yourself
You breathe, you think and you do. You exist. Your body works for you. It digests food, has immunity to prevent diseases and it keeps you alive. This is a fact and you’ve got science to back it up. But is that enough for us to believe in? That we take care and survive for ourselves?
Truth is, it’s not enough. That feels lonely. Theres no sense of belonging or of being loved. This is why we need to believe in something else, other than human, other than the reality we know and see. Some believe in God while some believe in the universe. Whatever you may believe in, the concept is similar. Some greater entity truly cares for you and your loved ones. You are accepted, you are forgiven, you are not alone. Not only does a belief bring you comfort but it may even make you part of a community. These beliefs may come with certain rules and limits. But ultimately believing in some greater power is good for humans. We are our thoughts. Due to our beliefs we may feel secure and comforted even when we physically have no one. During hard times the only thought that keeps us sane to an extent is of hope that through some way or the other, the situation will get better. We can’t always believe in ourselves. We are flawed and we make too many mistakes. At times we don’t even like ourselves. This is why believing in more than just yourself is important. Something pure and powerful guiding you, being with you at every breath even when it shakes and trembles, not judging you and somewhat being on your side. This is a really important illusion. This is what we really crave. It’s not wrong and it’s not right; It just is.
It is important for us to believe in more than what we see and know. For the sake of our sanity, community and discipline.
